ENGR. NAZIM FIDAHUSSAIN HAJI, S.ST

Nazim Haji is a Social Worker and an Activist. He was the Chief of CPLC (CITIZENS POLICE LIAISON COMMITTEE) from its inception until 1996.

He is presently on the board of several not-for-profit organizations in the health and education sectors. He firmly believes in Constitutional Democracy, the Rule of Law and Justice for All.

SHAHID ABDULLAH

Shahid Abdulla co-founded the esteemed architectural firm Arshad Shahid Abdulla, (Pvt) Ltd, in partnership with his elder brother in 1979. After obtaining his degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago, Shahid embarked on his professional journey in Pakistan in 1975, and now has a remarkable career spanning thirty-seven years and his architectural prowess and innovative spirit have earned him well-deserved recognition.

Shahid’s unwavering dedication to responsible social change has led to the establishment and active involvement in esteemed organizations such as The Citizens Foundation, Kidney Center, Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture and has active participation in non-profit organizations like The Hunar Foundation, The Citizens Foundation, and the Karachi Relief Trust.

Shahid Abdulla’s architectural and humanitarian contributions have garnered prestigious accolades, including the Sitara-e-Imtiaz and the Presidential Pride of Performance. His exceptional dedication to the Pakistan Pavilion at Expo2020 in Dubai resulted in its recognition as the 2nd best Pavilion, a testament to his unwavering pursuit of excellence.

SHIMAILA MATRI DAWOOD

Shimaila Matri Dawood is the Managing Director of Pak News Ltd. She is an award-winning journalist with awards from Cable News Network (CNN), Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and All Pakistan Newspapers’ Society (APNS). As former Joint Secretary of the APNS, and a member of its executive committee, she has championed the cause of press freedom in Pakistan.

Matri-Dawood heads a children’s welfare and advocacy group, Kasur Hamara Hai (KHH), instrumental in the proposing and passing of the Zainab Alert, Response and Recovery Act and amendments to the Sindh Child Protection Authority Act. She is an alumnus of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and University College London (UCL) with degrees in Economics, Economic History; Development Studies and Development Planning and firmly believes every individual has an ethical and moral responsibility to work towards the betterment of society.

MASOOD AHMED SHEIKH

Dr Masood Ahmed Sheikh is a Consultant Urologist now, having obtained his medical education from Dow Medical College, Karachi, with postgraduate training in England.

He was Head of Department of Urology & Transplantation at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi.

Presently he is a Member of the Board of Governors and Director Research of Malir University of Science & Technology.

He has held the position of Chairman LUTS Research Group Pakistan; Past President of Pakistan Association of Urological Surgeons; Founding Member of the Urological Association of Asia and Asian Society for Female Urology; Member British Association of Urological Surgeons; Ex-Chief of Surgery and later Chief of Staff, Mercy Hospital, Independence, Kansas. Past Chairman Project Committee, Kidney Center, Karachi and Chairman Friends of Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture, Karachi.

ARSHAD ANIS

Arshad Anis is an accomplished senior management leader who has served in senior executive positions and as Chief Executive in multinational and national conglomerates. Arshad brings on board a unique blend of modern management thinking and commitment to ethical values and a vast experience of international negotiations and successful introduction of new business concepts. He has negotiated and helped set up two joint venture companies in partnership with US multinationals.

Arshad received a master’s degree in applied physics. In practical life he has been a practitioner of marketing and management sciences.

Arshad Anis has served on the Boards of several companies and is a certified Director from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. He has attended several management courses in Pakistan, USA and the United Kingdom including senior management course at the Harvard Business School.

He is actively involved with social sector organizations, in rehabilitation of incarcerated youth and in providing education to street children.

He is the President and CEO of Taskeen Health Initiative, an organization working in the area of mental health.

SHAHAB GHANI KHAN

A Graduate from the University of Oregon, USA, Shahab Ghani Khan has been practicing architecture in Pakistan since 1976 when he landed his first job with Habib Fida Ali. A year later he started his own firm, Shahab Ghani and Associates.

His work covers a varied range of endeavors – from small housing projects to multi-storey buildings, and includes institutional, corporate, recreational and industrial projects. Throughout his career, he has taken special interest in his community and has worked towards improving standards in education and professionalism in architecture.

He represented Pakistan as an official delegate of The Institute of Architects, Pakistan (IAP) at the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) Council Meeting in Bombay in 1985 and in Malaysia in 1986; and has held many offices since then.

Beginning in 1986, he became Critic and Thesis Advisor for final year students at Dawood College of Engineering and Technology for two years. He went on to teach courses in Architectural Design and Communication Skills at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture from 1991 to 1993.

He has held several positions at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, Karachi, including Chairman Executive Committee & Member Governing Body.

He was Chairman of the IAP’s Karachi Chapter in 1982 as well as 1991 and became the organization’s Honorary Secretary in 1985. He was later elected National Council Member in 1991 and 2001. He also held an international office in 1991-92 as Honorary Treasurer ARCASIA and was head of the Pakistani delegation to ARCASIA Council Meetings in Lahore in 2010; DaNang, Vietnam in 2011 and Bali, Indonesia in 2012. He currently hold the position of Chair of the Fellowship Committee of ARCASIA (2022-23)

He was elected to the office of Chairman, Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners (PCATP) from 2005 to 2009. During this period, he served as the Chairman of the Accreditation Board responsible for vetting professional degrees in architecture in Pakistan.

He was Member UIA Professional Practice Commission 2014-20; UIA WP-“Public Spaces” 2020-23; Trustee of Endowment Fund Trust for Preservation of the Heritage of Sindh (EFT) from 2018-23.

SAMAR ALI KHAN

Samar Ali Khan graduated from the University of Houston in Texas, USA, in 1980 and began his career as an architect in both the United States and Pakistan. He became a prominent figure in Pakistan’s political landscape as a founding member of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in 1996 and actively participated in various committees and organizing roles within the party. Additionally, he served as a Member of the Provincial Assembly in Sindh from 2013 to 2018, where he played a crucial role in multiple standing committees.

 

Beyond politics, Samar Ali Khan has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service and welfare. He received the Sitar-i-Imtiaz award for Community Service from the Government of Pakistan in 2019. He continues to contribute to various organizations, serving as the Chairman of Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Ltd (SIDCL) and as the Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society – Sindh from 2021 to 2023.

 

In addition to his political and community service roles, Samar Ali Khan is actively involved in various trusts and councils that are not politically affiliated. He serves as a Trustee of the Pakistan Insaf Welfare Trust (PIWT) and the Saneeya Husain Trust (SHT). Furthermore, he is a Board Member of the Indus Earth Trust, a Member of the National History & Literary Heritage Division, and a Member of the Karachi Transformation Task Force and Advisory Council under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, all contributing to the betterment of society.

 

Samar Ali Khan’s contributions extend beyond politics and community service. He is a respected architect, a life member of the Pakistan Council of Architects & Town Planners (PCATP), and a Fellow (Honored) of the Institute of Architects, Pakistan (IAP).

 

Samar’s life and career reflect a remarkable blend of architecture, community service, and contributions to various non-political trusts and councils, making him a notable figure in Pakistan’s social and architectural spheres.

Fahim Iqbal Siddiqui

Fahim I. Siddiqui graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from NED Engineering University, Karachi in 1974 and he started his career in M/s International Consultants and was accepted as a partner in the firm in 1978, and he continued with this association till 1987.

In 1987, he founded M/s Fahim, Nanji & deSouza Private Limited (FND), a Consulting Engineering firm, now recognized as one of the leading firms in Mechanical-Electrical sector in Building Technologies in Pakistan, with a staff of over 120 personnel and is currently its CEO/ Principal Mechanical Consultant.

He was a Founder Member of Pakistan HVACR Society and was elected President of the Society in which position he served from 2001-2003.

He played a pivotal role in the establishment of ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter and was elected as President from 2005~2006 and was awarded ASHRAE Presidential Award of Excellence in 2003.

He was elevated to the position of Fellow of Institute of Engineers, Pakistan in 2008. He is a Registered Consulting Engineer, Pakistan Engineering Council; Member National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA); Member American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

He has been collecting cactus & succulent plants for the past 45 years, and his collection of these plants is recognized as the best in Pakistan. He founded the Cactus & Succulent Society of Pakistan and was elected as its first President, and subsequently elevated to the position of Life Chairman.

He is an active member of the Horticultural Society of Pakistan (HSP) and was elected to the position of Chairman of HSP from 2009 to 2013 and from 2019 to2023.
He is also a Member of the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar Management Board since April 2019.

Rabia Azfar Nizami

Rabia Azfar Nizami is an accomplished professional with a diverse background. She holds a degree in Engineering from Dawood College of Engineering and Technology. With 28 years of experience in Tech, Rabia has gained valuable expertise in various roles. Her association with Nokia and Microsoft as an alumnus further highlights her proficiency in the field. In addition to her career, Rabia has made significant contributions in the realm of public service. During her tenure as a Member of the Provincial Assembly in Sindh, she actively served on the Orphanage Board of Sindh Social Welfare Department and the Education Steering Committee of Sindh. As an advocate for education and child rights, Rabia has written numerous articles addressing education issues in Sindh and has been a vocal proponent of the right to education for every child, as guaranteed by Article 25A of the Constitution of Pakistan. From 2018 to 2023, her work in the Provincial Assembly primarily focused on child rights, education, and critically reviewing laws pertaining to the rights of children. She successfully amended two crucial laws related to Child Protection and Anti-Narcotics, making a lasting impact in these areas.

He was a Founder Member of Pakistan HVACR Society, where he served as the General Secretary from 1998 to 2000 and was elected President of the Society in which position he served from 2001-2003.

He played a pivotal role in the establishment of ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter, where he served in positions of Vice President, President Elect and finally as President from 2005~2006 and was awarded ASHRAE Presidential Award of Excellence in 2003. He was also an active member of the ASHRAE Region at Large (RAL) and attended many meetings and conferences abroad and presented many technical papers in seminars and symposiums in Pakistan, Greece, and India. He is also a Distinguished Lecturer of ASHRAE RAL. Currently he is a Life Member of ASHRAE.
He was elevated to the position of Fellow of Institute of Engineers, Pakistan in 2008.
He has travelled to over 30 countries and has visited the manufacturing facilities of most major HVACR manufacturers in the world.
His other professional affiliations are:

• American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) – Member.

He is also a Member of the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar Management Board since April 2019, in which position he has been instrumental in the redesign of the Quaid-e-Azam Museum at Quaid Mazar, in getting the topographic survey conducted of the Quaid Mazar and its peripheral areas, and managing the design of the Pakistan Park on 36 acres of land on the south of the Quaid Mazar.
